Book Review: The Spirit Keeper

4.5/5

I am surprised how much I enjoyed this book! I saw it on goodreads, sounded good and so I ordered it from my library. Not expecting much by any means but I was pleasantly surprised! Love finding hidden gems like these!

Katie, the main character, lives a pretty miserable life until one day she is taken captive by savages. There she has to adjust and soon learns that she really hasn't been captured, in a sense. I enjoyed all the characters, particularly Syawa. The plot is a little far-fetched in the sense of everything melding and ending up together. But I've always been a lover for the whole 'fate' and things working out as they must type of thing.

By no means is this a blow-your-pants-off amazing book. I can see why a lot of people would find it slow, the whole story is when the characters are traveling. But I didn't mind it, I like it a lot. Also for some people this book can be real a tear jerker. I certainly got sad but it takes a lot for me to shed a few tears.

I don't know how historically accurate this book is about the Native American's or if the author just made shit up as she went. Either way I liked the customs they had.

All in all I enjoyed it greatly and wouldn't mind having a copy of it myself.

Book Review: Archangel

3/5

I can definitely see why this book has such great reviews. It is a good book, just not my type. Maybe it's the whole 'angels' I don't like or maybe its the world? I really don't know. I've got nothing else to say other than, yes, it is a good book. I enjoyed, just didn't love it. But, hey, if I ever saw it in a thrift store I would buy it.

I'm more into Shinn's Elemental Series

Book Review: Ringer

4.5/5

Great story, I enjoyed it immensely. Only wished it had been longer! A few places felt a bit rushed. And I would have loved to have seen more of the Onslow boys and their girlfriends.

I liked Ringer a lot more in this one. In the other books he'd always just been a side character, never got a good enough feel for him. But now, he's there next to Sean and Chris in my list of 'swooniest' Onslow boys.

I definitely liked Miranda, quite a firecracker (not so much as Amy though).

Also had some good laughs, that's something I've come to love about C. J. Duggan's books--they always have me rolling.

Only wished it had been longer!

Book Review: Dante's Girl

2/5

So glad I only paid .99 cents for this book. It had great reviews, it sounded good, and I wanted to like it. I really, really, wanted to like it. But gah, no I did not.

descriptionIt wasn’t that funny, to me atleast. I only had a few good laughs from this book. The romance was kinda boring and uninteresting. I just didn’t connect with this story on any level.

It starts of with the MC, Reece, at an airport going to London to spend the summer with her father. Reece has a huge name complex. Thinking it’s a very ‘male’ name. Umm, no Reece is kinda an unisex name like Taylor, Devon and Jordan.

She runs in to the living breathing Adonis. They hit it off and get on the plane together then this whole accident happens. Fast-forward a bit and she goes with him because the airports are being shut down for protection. Our MC finds out Adonis is actually the prime ministers son and a very rich man from this Mediterranean island.

For awhile there she was all hesitant to go with him. But then she found out he’s a prime ministers son and went with him without a second thought. Maybe I’ve read/watched to many mysteries or movies with dirty ‘up standing people’ but I’d still bit weary. He could’ve still been some lunatic, hidden deep down.

Anyways the story does sound interesting but its not.

The MC is so self-depreciating and repetitive and I thought melodramatic in a few cases.

Adonis is pretty much a golden boy: handsome, smart, kind, rich, and really good at taking orders. Just reminded me way to much of my cousin. I didn’t even find him that funny. He wasn’t very believable, I’m like where the hell is this guys flaws? Reece states her’s within the first few pages.

As it comes down to it, I wanted a fluff, got fluff, just not the good fluff.

Oh, and there were a lot of sentences/thoughts ThatWentLikeThis like OhMyGod what the hell?

Book Review: Chain Reaction

2/5

Blah. I didn't expect much from this book but I didn't think it be that sucky!

Honestly, Elkeles whole 'chemistry' series follows the same fucking formula. Poor Mexican boy meets rich uptown girl at school (or wherever) they fight but have great chemistry. Then he gets into a fucking gang and it all goes downhill form there. Blah, blah, blah, ensues the drama. But it always ends happily ever after. With them marry so many years later etc.

I liked Perfect Chemistry, that one wasn't too bad. But like stated above, if you've read one, you've read them all.
